Greenheart Tree Surgery

Covering Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset & Devon for over 25 years

A comprehensive tree management company.....

Tree surgery

Arboriculture

We are highly experienced in all aspects of tree surgery work. Be it a 15 foot apple tree or a 100ft beech tree every tree will be climbed and worked on safely and with respect to the tree. All of our work is carried out to BS3998.

Tree removal

Dangerous trees

Sometimes a tree has to come down and there are multiple reasons for this. It could be dangerous, damaged or maybe its damaging a structure. In these instances we may need to use rigging techniques to lower limbs away from buildings etc. At Greenheart tree surgery we love a good challenge so we will deploy all of the techniques available to us to get the tree down and cleared as safely as possible.

Tree inspections

Tree Safety

We can come to inspect your trees from the ground and from within the canopy to highlight any safety concerns and future issues, then we can arrange your tree work in order of priority.

Hedge cutting

Keeping your hedges tidy

Having tidy hedges is always very satisfying. We will not only get your hedges looking great, but we will also meticulously tidy up afterwards leaving your garden looking amazing!

Tree Planting

Arborists don't only reduce or remove trees, we like to plant new trees whenever we can. We can come to your land or garden to recommend what to plant and then carry out the planting works. We can also be involved in the care of the trees while they are establishing.

Site clearance

Large scale clearance work

Sometimes we are called out to clear large areas of vegetation ready for building work or maybe ahead of a large scale project of some description. We have a 4x4 tipper truck, industrial wood chipper and a bobcat skid steer with a forestry grab. Having access to the right tools ensures that the work is carried out efficiently so more value for money for our clients.

Our Bobcat is also available to hire with an operator.

Sawmill

Artisan timber

With todays environmental concerns its important to cut our carbon footprint wherever possible. So making use of locally felled timber to be used in local projects make a lot of sense! We extract any quality trunk from site and have them milled into beautiful timber.

South Somerset tree surgeon

The Green Umbrella

At Greenheart we will do our very best to protect you from previously unforeseen problems regarding your trees.

It doesn't matter if its a large country estate or a smaller site. we will look for the dangers before they arise and eliminate the problem through either targeted pruning, limb bracing or complete removal.

ash dieback

Ash Dieback

Believed to have started in Poland in 1992 Ash dieback - Chalara Fraxinea - is now widespread across Europe and was finally discovered in the UK in 2012 at sites that had received commercially imported saplings.

The disease shows itself with spots and lesions on stems and branches and then through wilting, premature shedding of leaves and particularly in the death of the top of the canopy.

It is thought that only around 20-30% of trees are resistant so many tens of millions of ash trees will succumbe to the disease.

Once the tree is over 70% infected it is deemed to be too dangerous to climb, so it is important the infected trees that could threaten people, property, footpaths or the highway should be removed.

Call us to arrange a free site visit to asses your ash trees and tailor a plan of action according to your needs.

tree work using a tractor

Mechanisation

At Greenheart we not only work with our hands, but where necessary we like to deploy large machinery to get the job done in the most productive way possible.

Either using our Bobcat skidsteer machine or large tractor with mounted crane and winch or any other from the array of subcontractors at our disposal, we are well equipped to tackle even the largest and hardest of tasks.

Lorry and woodchipper in avenue of trees

Attention to Detail

It's all too easy just to hack a few branches off and call yourself a tree surgeon. At Greenheart we know the value of introducing a more sensitive hand to jobs that require it.

Take for instance this wonderful avenue of beech and lime trees in the image opposite. The task was to gently lift the lime trees to match to beech trees, the aim was to create more of a visual 'event' for the guests arriving a Lucknam Park Hotel, but not to remove too much which would make it look un-natural.

We took our time to focus on removing only just enough to achieve the desired effect and the results were beautiful!!

Reviews

I have used Mike and his team on many occasions over the years and have no hesitation in recomending Greenheart for good quality tree work.

Sir Graham Boyce

We own a country estate that Greenheart has managed since 2012,our trees are in great shape thanks to Mike and we suffered no damage in the recent storms! Thank you!

Mr Baker

Greenheart came to remove our Giant sequoia that had unfortunately died, they gave me a discount for the timber and planked it up in our field. They were very profesional and left the site clean and tidy. Highly recommended!!
